PLATFORM is pleased to present UT PICTURA POESIS with works by Melissa Godoy Nieto in collaboration with poetry by Lane Harlan. UT PICTURA POESIS came from a long-term conversation between Nieto and Harlan, who share a friendship in addition to having this creative collaboration.

 

Melissa Godoy Nieto seeks to explore the dialogue between verbal and visual communication. Lane Harlan’s poetry acted as a catalyst for Nieto’s drawings and paintings for the past months in her studio. UT PICTURA POESIS is the result of the collaboration in which Godoy investigates her relationship with nostalgia, identity, and longing through symbolism by creating visual responses and expressions of Harlan’s poems written during her journeys in Mexico in the past year.
